about

Beyond the Sky, a song based off the science fiction novel 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. Instrumentally, the song carries a Pink Floyd meets Alice in Chains vibe. The verses are mellow with dark undertones that are preceded by powerful choruses. Beyond the Sky ends with an upbeat outro that escalates into an adrenaline induced ride through time and space.

lyrics

Great gods of the sky coast my way/
For the first in time to catch man's gaze/
All I've learned of life slips away/
And what's past the horizon, I know not how to say/

Light shines beyond the sky, it's nice to finally see it/
And I'm quite prepared to die, whatever comes so be it/
Light shines beyond the sky, it's nice to finally see it/
And I'm quite prepared to die, whatever comes so be it/

Saturn's moon's great eye, a blinkless stare/
Much akin to mine, a burning glare/
One by four by nine, as far as we're aware/
But such a fool was I assuming it ends there/

Or that it ends at all/

Light shines beyond the sky, it's nice to finally see it/
And I'm quite prepared to die, whatever comes so be it/
Light blinds and bathes my eyes, they know not what they're seeing/
And I might appear alive, if not it's how I'm feeling/

Far from all mankind/
Lost in endless night/
The ship is still in sight/
It drifts out far behind/
I'm all that's left alive/
Losing track of time/
Far from all mankind/
Lost in endless night/
Gravitation tide/
Time comes rushing by/
Light's pulled from my eyes/
And I can't help but smile/
